Tamil School

Our Tamil School launched on 11th July 2019, ITI Campus, Badili.
PNG Tamil Sangham (PNGTS) (Association), a registered and incorporated entity, run with the objective of spreading the glory and greatness of the most ancient Tamil language and its vast literature, and also at the same time taking up and supporting the social causes of PNG, decided to make its humble 2 cents to this common noble cause
The Papua New Guinea Tamil Sangam values the integrity of its members and recognizes their commitment to the Mission, Objectives and Purposes.

ABOUT US

We the Tamil language speaking people living in Papua New Guinea stand united in one aim and goal forming this PAPUA NEW TAMIL SANGAM which will have perpetual succession in the years to come.

Tamil language is well recognized and accepted as one of the oldest known languages in the history of human civilization, very rich in its cultural moorings, with a rich tradition, beautifully captured in innumerable prose, poetry and various other descriptions.

​In today’s world, Tamil culture is well spread across the world and generally well known for their ability to integrate, co-exist with other world cultures.

The following are main goals to forming the Papua New Guinea Tamil Sangam is to provide an appropriate forum to:

  1. Generally promote Tamil language and culture, especially amongst Tamils living in Papua New Guinea and to serve the general interest and welfare of the members.

  2. Provide systematic opportunity for future generation of Tamils living in Papua New Guinea to reconnect with their linguistic and cultural roots, participate, learn and grow in the rich heritage of the Tamil language and culture.

  3. Provide a systematic opportunity to teach Tamil language, including its unique script, grammar, read, share and translate (into Pidgin) its well acclaimed prose and poetry to the future generation of Tamils

  4. Organize cultural events showcasing Tamil cooking, art, games, dance, drama and music

​Provide an opportunity for Tamil speaking families to connect with each other sharing similar culture and values.

Share with Papua New Guinea people, where practicable and feasible, the greatness, glory, harmony, friendship, respects culture and people of PNG and shall not be into conflict with the Laws of the country.

Where required, undertake / coordinate relief activities towards suffering humanity due to natural calamities etc. as deemed fit by the Executive Committee.

​MISSION STATEMENTS

​The Mission of the Papua New Guinea Tamil Sangam is to cultivate, promote and foster the exchange of ideas and understanding between Tamil language speaking people and other cultures. It seeks excellence in its endeavors for the advancement of knowledge in Tamil language, literature and the arts through its programs. It strives to promote fellowship and to provide, organize and participate in cultural and social functions. The Papua New Guinea Tamil Sangam has a clear mandate to be a non-profit, non-partisan, cultural, service e-based and secular organization.

​OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES

​The objectives and the purposes of the PNG Tamil Sangam shall be:​

a) Make all efforts to promote innovative scholarship and excellence in the teaching of the arts and language.

b) Assemble the best of the folk artistry of Tamil origin, allowing enthusiastic professional as well as amateur folk art performers to train in and perform a variety of art genres that will not only showcase their talents but also keep alive traditional art forms.

c) Actively engage in working to foster arts, language, service, and charitable programs that would provide genuine opportunities for PNG Tamil Sangam to make connections with other local, national and international communities to share knowledge and resources.

d) Promote a sense of active engagement in community affairs without endorsing any specific political group.

e) The PNG Tamil Sangam shall promote and participate in the exchange of cultural activities with other ethno-cultural groups and organizations in the area, and to be an official liaison body between such groups, organizations, and government departments.

f) The PNG Tamil Sangam shall promote activities for the advancement in Tamil Language, Literature, and Arts – especially by forming a Tamil Library, teaching Tamil Language, promoting Tamil literary discussions and Tamil music, dance and drama.

2018 தீப ஒளித் திருநாளில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ் பாடசாலைத் திட்டம் துவங்கப்பட்ட நாள்.


நடைமுறைப்படுத்த சிரம் மேற்கொண்ட அனைத்து இடைக்கால நிர்வாகக்குழு உறுப்பினர்கள், இட வசதி உபகரணங்கள் புத்தகங்கள் கொடுத்து மாபெரும் உதவி செய்த ஐ.டி.ஐ நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் திரு. குமரன், ஆர்வமுடன் பாடசாலையில் இணைந்த குழந்தைகள், தமிழ் பயிற்றுவிக்க முன்வந்த தன்னார்வலர்கள் திருமதி. திலகம் விஜய், திருமதி. செந்தாமரை சிவரூபன் மற்றும் சங்க உறுப்பினர் திருமதி.ராணி கணேஷ், துவக்க விழாவிற்கு சிற்றுண்டி வழங்கி உபசரித்த சங்க உறுப்பினர்களின் திருமதிகள், விழா ஏற்பாடுகளைச் சிறப்பாக செய்திருந்த திரு.சிவரூபன் & திரு.விஜய், விழாவிற்கு நேரிலும் குறுஞ்செய்தியிலும் வாழ்த்திய நண்பர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகள். 

எதிர்வரும் 14/07/2019 முதல் துவக்க கட்டமாக பிரதி ஞாயிறு தோறும் காலை 10:30 முதல் 11:30 மணி வரை தமிழ் பயிற்றுவிப்பு வகுப்புகள் ஐ.டி.ஐ வளாகத்தில் நடைபெறும். நமது தாய்மொழியின் இனிமையை, சுவையை நமது சந்ததிகள் அனுபவிக்க ஏதுவாக போர்ட் மோர்ஸ்பி வாழ் தமிழ் மக்கள் தங்களது குழந்தைகளை பாடசாலையில் சேர்க்க அன்புடன் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம்

Our Charity

Papua New Guinea Tamil Sangam (PNGTS) has consistently organized blood donation camps since 2018, with a total of Seven camps conducted so far. Through these efforts, we have successfully collected over 200 blood bags, which have been donated to Port Moresby General Hospital (POMGH) to support those in need. In the year 2023 PNGTS was recognized by POMGH for its significant contributions, receiving a top honor for its ongoing
support in these blood donation initiatives.

PNG Tamil Sangam has already organized several community service initiatives during this calendar year (2025) and as well as last year 2024. Some of the key activities include:

  1. Papa Medical Camp: Organized a successful medical camp at Papa village, benefiting more than 300 individuals with essential healthcare services and medical check-ups.

  2. Cheshire Home Visits: Regularly visit Cheshire Home to provide support, comfort, and necessary items to the residents, fostering a sense of care and community.

  3. Best NGO Award in Blood Donation: Consistently recognized as the best NGO in blood donation, receiving accolades from POMGH (Port Moresby General Hospital) for continuous support in saving lives.

  4. Empowering PNG Women Entrepreneurs: Distributed sewing machines to support women micro-entrepreneurs in Papua New Guinea, promoting financial independence and skill development.

  5. Settlement Visits for Needy Items Distribution: Conducted visits to settlements to identify and distribute essential items to families in need, uplifting their living conditions.

  6. Juvenile Jail Educational and Support Programs: Visited juvenile detention centers to conduct educational programs and distribute necessary items, aiming to support rehabilitation and personal development.

  7. Computer Distribution to Juvenile Prisons: Donated computers to juvenile prison facilities to facilitate digital literacy and enhance educational opportunities for inmates.

  8. School Uniform Distribution: Provided school uniforms to underprivileged students, helping them access education with dignity and confidence
